Needless to say, this is my first time. No doubt the car needs a wash but I was doing this as an experiment :) But I'm also horrible in Photoshop so cloning out flashes are hard for me :(
It was pitch black!

Final Edit!

I never done such a shot before (light-paint). But your progression photos made it seem much more complicated than what I had in mind.

I think if I were to try, I would have opted to leave the omnibounce off the flash, and I would have triggered the flash farther away. But I'm sure I'm over-simplifying the process.

Yup exactly what jwcdds said..trigger the flash further and take off the omnibounce. Lesser PS needed after

Cross posting from your other thread minus some content

Good attempt, but don't remove backgrounds, etc., unless you have light poles sticking out of the car, and other major distractions.

Example of one of my shots.

2 lights. Did not spend hours removing any flash highlights because there were not any. Only subtle accents on the front bumper.

Work on setting up multiple sources, and using ambient light as well. Learn to control your light sources with your surroundings. Take it back a notch, use some shoot through umbrellas or softboxes to decrease the harsh highlights.

Also work on your composition and leveling. you're on the right track. As for light painting, If that is the issue and you are strapped for cash for more gear, you can also put the camera on the tripod, shoot one side with a stationary strobe, then reposition the light on the other side or where you prefer, take another shot and then stack them in PS.

So try that stuff out next time!

The only thing is, I AM strapped for cash haha.
All I have for lighting is my 580. I dont even have a wireless transmitter :(

But def some great useful information! Thanks a lot :)

Definitely try stacking multiple exposures in photoshop then for now. Many people get outstanding results this way.

Anyone else have experience with stacking or strobing that can help this guy out?
