All the vendors do is sell the product. If you bought the product legally from China, there isn't anything that you can sue for. If Canon chooses to have their parts manufactured in China, they assume all the risks of China's law. Which is why Paul Buff is boiling over the PLM stuff.

Not true. The FTC seizes tons of knockoff purses, golf clubs, and fake ipods each year (most are imported from china). The difference is trade dress. Buff is mad at the copies of the PLM but they are not direct knockoff's as they do not trade on his graphics or mounting designs, and he cant really patent the concept of a large umbrella.

Well I don't work for canon so I'm happy to see them copy the design if it means better flash than the yn468 for cheaper than the 580. I am a little surprised that they copied the design that closely though, you'd think they would change something just to differentiate it.

This is cool news though, I dont think I'd update my yn468 without high speed sync though

Yes but there is a big difference, these products are labelled with the product/company names, these flashes are their own brand.

Granted thats true in some instances, but not all, but there is a fine line how close you can get. For instance you cant make an exact copy of a golf club and put another name on it. You can make some design changes so that its close, but different. The line of how close you can get is usually determined by a lawsuit and all I am saying is YN is getting pretty close on the trade dress issue.

I see what you're saying, and I agree. Especially if the screen on the 565 in the pictures is the actual screen.... it looks like it is directly copied from a 580.

That's if there is enough supply and if China isn't in the middle of some unknown traditions/holiday :p

So you'd better say around last week of July.

That's if there is no faulty capacitor that needs to be replace.

So August/September for second production units.

Wasn't the early release of the 560 pay of the qc problems? Meaning, they were pumping out flashes with issues? I got a later one, no problems knock on wood.

Meh, I also got a later one.... faulty capacitor issue 3 weeks in. that being said, if the 565 causes 560 prices to drop even further, I may pick up a couple for creative on-location work. $50 would be a sweet price point for the 560 :-P
