C&C welcome. All of these are shot with the 85 1.8, 580exii on camera and 430exii off camera. Canon infrared wireless. I wanted to test it out to see what the outdoor limitations are and if it would be feasible to use during a wedding.

Nice poses. Skin tone is way off - which I realize may be the model's fake tan. She's orange.

being colorblind sucks for noticing something like that.

I think they're all gorgeous! I was wondering if you use any diffuser for you off camera flash?

Any other thoughts?

One thing i've noticed since moving up to the 50d from the t1i is that the focus points are big boxes instead of small points. So when doing a full body or 3/4 shots its impossible to focus on the eye. I can only focus on like the left side of the face. I suppose its not that big of a deal, but it has been an adjustment

The other thing I noticed that hasn't been said is that her shirt is pretty dirty. Black shirts are tough because everything show's up on them. You can fix it in post though.

very true. I didn't notice that until I was home looking at them on my monitor. I want to spend forever removing each speck from the shirt. It was raining for part of the time too so I think you see some rain drops on the shirt as well.

with the brick wall behind it gives the picture many horizontal and vertical lines which make it glaringly obvious that number two is not straight, this may be what you are going for i don't know. the pose in number 7 looks really awkward.

i will say though, as far as the orange skin, there is a slight tint, but i don't feel like its that bad, maybe i'm used to seeing alot many girls who use tanning beds.

btw is that a piercing on her chest?

#2 is clearly tilted and done on purpose
#7 she is leaning on a railing, maybe I should have made that more visible

yes, that is a piercing on her chest

Thanks for the comments!

Only men can be colorblind. Women do not have the gene. Sorry - but it's true.

The photos are fine to me. In fact I am impressed that you got such even lighting. Did you use diffusers? In a dark place with non reflective brick you did well to get that much light.

OOOps! Forgot to mention that I enjoy the model (Claire) being "upbeat" in the photographs. Too many want to be sullen and mysterious instead of being relaxed and natural.

BTW - Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your feedback. It's rare, but about .4% of women are colorblind.

This was shot during the evening when there was still plenty of ambient light. So the 580 through the softbox is lighting the model while I think most of the light you see on the brick is probably just ambient light.
