I've just done a photoshoot with an MM model. Your C&C are much appreciated. The vintage-looking pictures are made by my own preset in LightRoom.

Full set can be found here, http://colormaniac.smugmug.com …81_3HtFn#1225765575_jfPJn (external link) (with some older pictures of the same model).

His poses are not flattering at all. It could be his outfit also. Maybe others might see it differently than I do.

I just got my first pair of glasses that I didn't think I needed. I apologize to anybody in the past year that I said their pictures were out of focus lol.

I'm not good at poses and don't find them bad. Can you elaborate a bit (e.g., for #, she would have looked better if ...)? I guess part of the pose problem is that her hairstyle, though very unique and nice, may not fit the outfit or poses.

By the way, this model is a female. I hope this much is clear. :P

Her hair is unique, but that isn't the problem - if anything that's the best thing about the photo series.. The problem, as I see it, is that there is no message here - are you trying to show off her clothes, her hair, or her personality? Meaning, there is no clear definition of what I'm supposed to be looking at - it looks as though you have someone who is just posing in front of someone who happens to have a camera. In other words, the overall photo series lacks a theme and the individual photos lack a clear definition of what we're supposed to be looking at beside a girl (very clearly, a girl, IMO) in front of the camera.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they're bad photos, I give you a lot of credit for working with a model and putting them up where strangers can C&C them. I'm just saying there needs to be more forethought into each photo.

Thanks! I understand what you mean. This photoshoot is kind of like what you described, without much concept or theme. She called me up and would like to get some pictures. I let her choose the clothes and, during the photoshoot, we said "why don't we also try another location?"... So, it ended up like without any theme or message.

I apologize then. I thought I seen an adams apple in a couple of them from your gallery.

I'm really shocked that you really thought the model was a male. I thought it was your typo only.

Anyway, could people not comment on the model's gender and evaluate the pictures as pictures of a female model?

..... LOL I figured the boobs were a dead giveaway it was a female.

I dunno, the elbows out legs apart just isn't flattering. I found most of them awkward :/

You really must try to find poses that will flatter your models figure. #6 Flatters her body the most and it looks a bit.. not trashy but it basically alludes to intamacy.. #8 should be scrapped.. It honestly looks like she trying to fart.. #4 is the best angle of her face. What I do is before the shoot, I find the models best facial angles by taking a couple of close-up portraits, then with that knowledge while you find the poses that flatter her body make sure her face is also in one of her angles. Just study your model a bit before shooting. : ) But other than working on posing a bit, good job : )

I hope your not offended by anything >.< If so, I apologize.

Ps. Your model is unique&beautiful^^

The images look very masculine, not just due to the model, but the posing as well.

Are the poses really that bad? Hm... I don't know. I'll do some homework and pay more attention on this in future.

Thank you!

Hey, what about these two pictures? Are the poses better? :)

they look too posed. not that I'd be able to tell you any better, but they look unnatural and uncomfortable. nice pics though, crisp, lighting... although the bottom right corner of #8 seems to fall off

Oh, that bottom right corner of #8 is intentional. After all there was no way for me to shoot from a low angle without any obstacle. It seems that it's not working for some people, though.
