The sun briefly peaked through the clouds to give off some awesome lighting. Took advantage while it lasted.

Just got back from a short trip.

Taken looking down on the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon a few minutes after sunset. 30 second exposure at F16 and 200 ISO. Shot with a Nikon D600 and Samyang 35mm F1,4 lens.

^^ Love it. Great color in the canyon, and the contrast of the red rock in the foreground is spectacular.

EDIT: the only thing I would have done differently, is to lower the horizon so the sky took up 1/3 of the frame. Rule of thirds, but I'm too precise.

Definitely disagree here: the sky is just dead space in this shot. The more canyon showing the better, IMO.

Thanks guys. Yeah, this was my first time in the Grand Canyon. It seemed a waste to not frame as much as the canyon as I could.

Here's another one taken just minutes before the first shot, while the sun was still above the horizon.
