Canon did all the work here! I tried for the first time ever the in-camera hdr thing... I know it's the end of the world for purists, but it got me close to what I wanted

Forgot to add: That's firesmoke on the horizon, so it's filtering affects kinda helped out a bit
I experiment a lot with in-camera HDR...sometimes with as many shots as 7. Even as far as doing a single shot then process via a pseudo HDR...-2, 0, +2 exposure in Lightroom then Photomatix Pro does the rest as in this photo:
