Wireless Triggers needed

I currently own a pocketwizard Mini TT1 and a Flex TT5.

Now I'm adding a monolight strobe light to my lighting setup and eventually a second speedlite 580EX II.

I need to get a wireless trigger for the monolight, I was recommended the RF-602. Is there something I can use with the PWs or do I need a whole separate solution?? I know the 602s are inexpensive, as were other triggers I've seen online. Is there a big difference in all these? THe shipping for the 602s takes forever, hence my other consideration needs.

I don't know about the PW setup, but I did just get another set of RF602's - took about 10 days to get to NJ from this seller: http://cgi.ebay.com …geName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123 (external link)

Why not get a PW PlusII, which can integrate perfectly with your existing MiniTT1 and FlexTT5? Heck, even a second FlexTT5 would be fine (and could be used with your second 580EXII once you get it).

Might as well use the system you've already got.

You're both right. I was hoping I could integrate a cheaper solution but I don't think that'll be the case.

You probably can, but it boils down to what you would gain. With another TT5 you can add the AC3 and control the ratios.

Depending on the monolight you decide on the FlexTT5 is your best option.
If you choose an Alien Bee monolight the AC9 on a FlexTT5 will permit changing power from an AC3.
If you choose certain Elinchrom models you can use the PowerST to control them with an AC3. Or, if you opt to purchase the new Einstein, PCB and Pocketwizard are near release on a module to control the Einstein remotely via an AC3.

The AC3 does not control power on monolights triggered via the P2 port. There must be an AC9 attached to control the Alien Bee. The AC3 does control power for Speedlites attached to a FlexTT5.

Bottom line, since you have ControlTL technology already, you many want to consider monolights that will take advantage of its capabilities.

You can get the RF602's overnighted from Amazon Prime for $4, I just 1-clicked them 5 minutes ago.

You guys keep supporting my thought process, so I'm thinking I'm on the right track.

At this point I think I'll pull the trigger on an AlienBee 1600, keep using my PW Mini and FLex, add a second Flex and an AC3. Slowly but surely begin building a solution that supports itself and allows me flexibility and convenience to be able to focus on the task and not the gear.

Get the AC3. Its such an amazing product for an inexpensive price. I regret buying one sooner but I was waiting for a canadian camera shop to carry the product. Ended up buying from Adorama.

If possible I'd suggest the Einsteins because of the gadgets that you can purchase later down the road. Hopefully the PowerMC will be a rock solid PW product for the Einstein. You can use the PW AC3 in a limited way with 3 lights (can add groups ).

Another wireless alternative is to buy cybersync csxcv (for einstein)and use a cyber commander. I will say the cyber commander has kinda disco interface but its such a powerful device. You can setup ratios and ramp up power and bracket all lights in a matter of seconds. Later the Vagabond mini lithium pack is spectacular for remote outdoor shoots.

fun fun with less money in your wallet of course :)

Yeah planning on getting the AC3. I watched the PW video on in and I really like what it let you do and the flexibility of the whole thing.

Will an AC3 control the lights on the PW Plus II??
