I have the same issue and it's only on certain pics. It's weird. Shows up as a blue dot.

You can try the "undocumented fix"

Put a lens cap on (or camera body cap) and put the camera into Manual sensor cleaning mode. Leave it there for a while, then turn the camera off. Check the bad spot. If it doesn't go away, try it again for a few times (make sure your battery is well charged). If it still doesn't go away, well...to service or not to service?

Well, just so you know -- if it's actually just one pixel, that is not necessarily considered a defect. If it's a cluster of pixels, that's another thing and should definitely be replaced!

Canon USA has stated more than once that is just a myth.

One dead or stuck pixel is trivial for still photography, but it's much more annoying--and uncorrectable--in video. I don't know if Canon has adjusted its policy since introducing video or not.

But interestingly, I've also seen very few complaints about dead and stuck pixels on the video-equipped models compared to complaints about previous models.

I'll need to check video to see if it's there. Thanks.

Well it definately worked on mine.

I was clueless on how to fix it until I came across this method.

Manually cleaned it once and the dead pixels went.

Doubt or scoff all you like,..it worked for me.

Really? That's the first I've heard that -- do you have a link?

It's funny, because not only have many people reported that it has worked for them, but one POTN member not long ago reported that when he contacted Canon Service about hot pixels, a tech actually advised him to use that method.

So, I'd be curious to see Canon statements to the contrary!

Canon USA's senior technical representative, Chuck Westfall, stated it in one of his Q/A columns on digitaljournalist.org Those columns are worth combing through for a lot of authoritative information.
