I had all but decided to buy a Manfrotto 190XPROB + 498RC2 (or possibly the 496RC2), when I stumbled across HorusBennu. The value for money seems very good, obviously, and people speak very well of the quality. It would seem that for the same price that I was looking at spending (~$250) I could move to carbon fibre and other potential advantages.

Jun 04, 2013 06:19 | #444 I have the HB combo you are considering. I have no complaint with it until I put the 100-400 w/2X converter on it. And there have been a couple of times I wished I had the ability to move the center post horizontal. For 95% of everything I do with a tripod the HB is fantastic. 7D, 50 f1.8, 17-55 f2.8, 70-200 f2.8 II, 100-400 f4.5-5.6L, 2x TC III, 580EX II, 430EX, 568EX II, 622C

Overall I am pleased with the purchase. I was considering several different carbon tripod choices, which was a chore, and ultimately settled on this one because it had the right combination of height (I'm ~6'3"), weight and features.

I already have the manfrotto 488rc2 w/ the 200pl plate but its grey, and I'd like one in black to match the cam, though I don't think they exist from manfrotto. Any suggestions? stever1000 Member 48 posts Joined Jun 2013 Location: Vancouver, Canada More info | I picked up a HorusBennu 1128TT with LX 2TL ballhead (same as 2T but has a level). It was cheap but I wanted something in that price range that was compact and travel-able... the monopod is a plus. The quality is good in the legs, however like others have said the head is what you pay for. I'm using a t3i and budget lenses so I should have no troubles.

Aug 14, 2013 11:29 | #449 I bought a tripod a few years ago and I have to say it didnt hold up too well. I bought it based on the reviews here. The twist legs rarely stay locked and the rubber covering over the twist part comes off fairly easy. I have had my camera with lens attached of course fall over about 5 times because of this tripod. I've had a broken 10-20 and a the lastest a bent hood on my 8-16. I'll double check to make sure the legs are locked but it somehow comes untightened when I walk a few feet away. I'm beyond frustrated at it to the point I hate it but currently I can't seem to pin down a tripod I can afford that has clip legs...never again will I get screw legs....is lightweight and compact. I do urbex photography and am hiking and climbing over things so it needs to be compact and lightweight. I've tried the travel Angel but it was far too flimsy with the 18-250 attached and again had issues with the twist legs :/ Michelle [FONT=verdana]7D † Sigma 8-16 † Canon 24-70L * Sigma 18-250 * Rokinon 8mm * Sigma 30mm 1.4 * Canon 70-200 F/4L † Nikon SB-25 † Sunpak 383

The best tripods use twist locks for good reason (RRS, Gitzo etc...). -Tom
