The best tripods use twist locks for good reason (RRS, Gitzo etc...). My only bad experience with twist locks on tripods is from Gitzo. That is the reason that I will never trust a Gitzo again. It is a pity that all the cheap ones have to copy that bad design.

I bought it based on the reviews here. The twist legs rarely stay locked and the rubber covering over the twist part comes off fairly easy. I have had my camera with lens attached of course fall over about 5 times because of this tripod. I've had a broken 10-20 and a the lastest a bent hood on my 8-16. I'll double check to make sure the legs are locked but it somehow comes untightened when I walk a few feet away. I'm beyond frustrated at it to the point I hate it but currently I can't seem to pin down a tripod I can afford that has clip legs...never again will I get screw legs....is lightweight and compact. I do urbex photography and am hiking and climbing over things so it needs to be compact and lightweight. I've tried the travel Angel but it was far too flimsy with the 18-250 attached and again had issues with the twist legs :/ Which Horusbennu tripod have you had problems with? My C-3540V is still fantastic after a couple of years of use. pfjohnsonphotography.com, pfjphoto.com, Baldwin, MD

It is super-light, super-strong and very steady. Versatile, came with the extra shorter column. You can detach the strap from the bag and put it on the tripod (very convenient when hiking with it on me -the tripod has an extra hook for that). Level, compass, 360 degree leg movement, double safety tightening on column, compressed air in the leg sections, modern design and look. I am 5' 3'' and a woman, this thing is LIGHT. Couldn't be happier.

Used it in the desert a lot, in the mountains, abused it, carried it on long hikes (so light and easy to carry!). The legs come in and out with an air/hydraulic system, so you don't need to turn and turn forever (just a tweak and they are released). Very stable, tall and well-made. Paid $385 in 2013 for it -new- on eBay. It turns to a monopod if you want, comes with extra head for it too. The bag is thick and well-made as well. No problems at all. Perhaps my only concern is that in the case something happens to the tripod there is no support that I know if. Other than that, I couldn't be happier with the quality and the stability of this tripod.

Have an opportunity to jump on a Horusbennu FX-8349TT CF with a Desmond dual slot ball head model # DLOW40. Went thru most of the pages here and didn't see either model #,... also searched the model # and nothing. I'm guessing the model came out after Feb 2015,... the last post here. Would appreciate hearing from anyone using this duo. Thanks!

B is a wooden cylinder turned/cut/trimmed to fit the inside of the tubing (G) with a little "encouragement" from a rubber hammer. C is a threaded rod, 3/8 inch in this case. Washer D and nut E work with the threaded rod and Tee-nut to lock the threaded rod with just enough extension to fit into the base of the ballhead properly. Screw I is run through the wall of tubing G into wood, just to make sure the wood goes nowhere once set. Then the head of the screw is cut off and polished flush with the tubing, so as to not impede its sliding action. F is a large washer which sits on top of the tubing and mates to the base of the ballhead H. ![]() Thanks ! ; this is much appreciated.
