Hey guys, im looking to buy my first dslr. Ive done plenty of research on the 550D and thought it was the one for me.. then when i went in store and saw the 600D for only $170 more.. do you think i should stick with the 550D or go ahead and pay a tad extra for a higher model camera???

I would go with the t2i, I looked into this myself when I was going back and forth on what to update my Rebel XS with. Id save the extra $170 and put it towards an additional lens or a really large high speed card for the video shooting.

Heres a SnapSort comparison of the 2 and it looks like the t2i comes out on top by these specs.

and one more point, if you dont need the kit lens, you can pick up a 60D body for the same price as the t3i kit.

From what I have seen of both bodies i'd say ti comes down to 2 variables. 1. money? If it's an important factor thn the 55 is a better value. 2. flip screen. If you want the tilt out screen, then the 600 is the way to go. Everything else looks to be about dead even. There are a few more features in the 600, like wireless flash trigger, digital zoom in video, and others, but those don't seem like big features to me.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.
