I generally shoot at 1/500, f/2.8, with ISO around 1250 - 1600 (The lighting at RFK Stadium is legendary for being poor). Where do you like to stand when shooting soccer? It seems to me to be a little too tight into the box. I set up on the north end of the field, and unfortunately they brought him on partly through the 2nd half, so I didn't get much of a chance at him. Bummer, because those were the money shots that night. I've been experimenting with my location in regards to the box and the touch line. If I get too close to the touch line, I miss some great action in the corners. If I get too close to the box, I miss a lot of the set pieces. This year, I'm going to try to move around appropriately. That's why i keep a wide-zoom on my second body. If you're only shooting with one, you gotta do what you gotta do. Nice work with the RFK lighting. I've only been there once, but I must admit, it was far from state-of-the-art. Yup, the lighting at RFK is not only awful, but it is variable throughout the field, so I can't even really meter. I just shoot at 1/500 and f/2.8 with ISO set to auto. I have to count on the camera metering for me. Unfortunately this results in some shots getting ruined, but in general, the 7D does a pretty decent job of it. Thanks for the advice on the yellows.
