Mar 24, 2011 21:21 | #1 I couldn't get to anywhere cool to shoot the moon last Saturday, so I shot it from the street. But a giant moon looks just like any other in a pic if there is nothing else in the image.  The bird is from Puerto Vallarta in 2004 with my 20D; the tree is from January 2011 from my G12; the moon is from Saturday the 19th from my 5DmkII.  Steve Cavanaugh

Thanks everyone. It is actually pretty difficult to get the moon and a foreground subject in good sharp focus - at least I've never managed it. By pushing the shutter speed up to stop the motion of the moon, you end up opening up your aperture enough that you lose any depth of field you need to keep them both sharp. So after a number of attempts, I concluded that I had to construct my image rather than expose it in one take. Steve Cavanaugh
