I would say to fix up a couple of those blemishes on top of what others have said.. particularly the one right in between his eyes on his nose.

I think this was probably a good practice session, but to send photos to an agency they need to be perfect. There are just a few things I would try to do, first make sure his eyes are completely sharp. Second if you're trying to go for a bokeh, maybe pick a less distracting background. And finally, the photos seem a bit dull in color, I don't know if you can pick a different background or just try to do that in PP. Good luck! You're on the right track.

Thanks Mate, I would try shooting in Manual as the meter can be fooled too often , as for your photo I used the unsharp filter to get rid of the fog on the photo then i used Artistic Tools from Kubota it was the Enter the Dragon Action at around 50 %. then I sharpen a bit with the smart sharpen.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Cheers

I used Photoshop CS4 for this Image and used the Kubota Action and a few other tweeks.

Cheers

Great C&C here, will the OP still get a broken brackground shooting at 6.3 or 8?

Eyes without catch lights look dead and empty. Even if you have to fake it, fake it. Otherwise, there is no life in the photo.

If you were shooting the first few at f1.8, you need to look at where your point of focus was, as it appears that it may have been the tip of his nose. At that aperature, you have a very shallow depth of field, hence the "soft look". I would have shot this at >f5.6 and tried to balance flash with ambient light hence an even exposure. Good luck!

well, I just threw this through about 30 seconds of editing...
added a little brightness, sharpened it up a little, and removed the shadows...
