I've used my Lee one stop grads in combo for the foregroud to not blow out highlights. It really helps in balancing the exposure.

yeah, that's my thing, I almost think it'd be more useful than a proper reverse (which do you use more Julian?)... But I've owned and used a 1 stop before, my current reverse is a glorified imported expensive hitech 3 stop GND.... so maybe I'm jaded?

eventually I'll probably get both, but my question is, do I go with the 1 stop lee soft GND first, or the reverse? I'm thinking the 1 stop since I can use it normally as well, then if it's not working as a reverse trick, but I see myself trying a lot, THEN go for the singh?

Idk man. I can't give you feedback on Hitech since I never used any of their products. If it were me, I'd for the reverse first. :)

bump...

so this may be a dumb idea/purchase, but I just bought a 1 stop soft lee GND as well as a 3 stop hard GND to try this. It's basically the same cost as the sing, but it's adjustable and I can use these GNDs for other shots. If the idea doesn't work at all I'll return the parts I don't need, but I'm going for it...
