I've been listening to some classical music with my mother who also likes it, the only problem is, I need to get to Sheffield from Doncaster from that... and because I'm not at uni very often in my last year that's very uneconomic...

On that note though, most people (possibly 95-99%) of the audience are older people around 40+.

Classical music isn't valued enough amongst the younger people in the UK it seem.

Music.. that makes me think... one year ago my mother and I went to Germany for a weeked to a) see my grandparents (her parents) and b) attend a Jean Michel Jarre concert... :D slightly mad decision, but nice music :) (bit loud though)

Well I would go. And who cares if everyone is old. As long as you enjoy yourself.

Oh, and Omar, there is another problem with being relaxed...

I have a rather expensive watch on my wrist and rather expensive pens in my bag - and my laptop isn't too cheap either...

That's no excuse.

Go get some nice jeans and a couple of nice shirts, heck you can still wear button up shirts with jeans if you must and your watch and everything will fit right in.

Woops! That's because I recycled him from the old Canon vs Nikon threads.

Then why are you looking at cheap jeans then

I have an expensive watch on my wrist as well. Goes well with my tshirt and jeans on the weekends :D

I'm just drawing on experience as a young child :D
As I said, I haven't worn jeans for a long time... -> and that still leaves the leg length issue...

I hate ties... so stinkin uncomfortable.

You need to learn to just relax a bit. I work with attorney's all day and too many of them never give themself a chance to relax. You need balance between relaxation and work. As they say at least here in the US, "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy."

That and don't take this the wrong way, but being too serious isn't good for relationships either. So many attorneys I know have no social skills because they focused on their studies their whole life way too much and never "learned" how to just go out and live.

I can't find anything uncomfortable with ties... hmm...

I think I get what you mean - but I have always been serious... there were times when I was still in Germany when the whole class would laugh about something and I either didn't understand the joke or couldn't understand why it would be funny... -> I do admit that I am absorbed in my own little life of science, facts and news and loose any little bit of social skill I might have left...
The thing is though, I've always been like that, so I'm not really missing anything ;) the only problem is, I can't understand people that enjoy themselves through means that aren't easy to explain from external observation.

Same here. I dislike wearing ties and dress shirts (not so much the shirts themselves, but the fact that you have to tuck them in your trousers). Fortunately we have a business casual dress code here at work. I'll admit that suits look good (and I own a couple of nice suits), but I couldn't stand wearing such an uptight outfit every day.

That might be the issue... although trousers are so much easier :) -> I just need to head to Germany (about 500km :D) then Sinn & Leffers in the Centro Oberhausen, and the company of choice for me is Gardeur :)
-> On that note: I don't think I can buy trousers in my size in the UK... at least not outside of London, I need a 36" leg on them...

Unbuttoning the shirt - yikes... I button it up to the top even without a tie, I've done this since I started wearing shirts which is also a long time ago...

Damn dude. Alright here we go from the top. Wear a white under shirt. With the first button up top unbotton. This is as relaxed as we will start you. The jeans in a size 36 leg? Your kidding right? If you said 56 then okay maybe they wont have that. But 36 is a popular enough size carried all over. So go get a pair. Actually get a few of them in dark denim washes. This way you have a few variation of color in your jeans to wear with your button down shirts.

Something like this. If you dont want to show any chest then put on a white tshirt.

-> Well, one downside to British orchestras - they don't play an encore...
I've been to a few this year, more than last year. If I get a place for a PhD in Leeds I'll possibly find some time for it as it would be local, which would also drive down costs a lot.

Living in Doncaster any concert is the full price + travel costs -> with a horrible bus service in the late evening...

-> The problem is, it'll make me slightly paranoid in situations where someone could attempt to rob me. Daylight at university or the town centre is fine. -> But else...

If I move from wool I move to trousers made from cotton -> but not Jeans.

That seems to warm... my circulation is a mess I sweat easily...
And well, in the UK the standard size is up to a 34" leg, in Germany a 36" (" is inch) leg is easy to get, I have no idea what size it is in the US, but in Germany there are two types of measurement, one is a number, the other is the length in inches (and circumference around the waist in inches too I think).

-> My standard for university is trousers (summer ones actually, so wool and some poly stuff), shirt (often white) and a tie (obviously underwears, socks and shoes) -> shirts end in the washing machine after being worn once :)
Sometimes cufflinks, but they are an issue when writing.

I somehow can't imagine me in a more "relaxed look" -> on that note though, over summer I've worn a Jack Wolfskin trekking shirt when walking around with my camera, and no woolen trousers either, shoes were Meindl. (Definitely better if you walk for hours :D)

Not quite lawyers, but I know a few law students, and all they know how to do is study and study, then party, party again, party a little more, and then party some more, and then party big time.

The measurements are the same in both. Example im a 34*32. 34 waist 32 length. If you cant find your size then order online. If they dont fit well then exchange ;) Get crackin!

Oh and on the style note if its too warm then just take off the sweater and bamn instant cool off ;)

You sir, need a make-over.

Relaxing and having a good time is what us Rednecks are all about!

Ah well, I'm not that.
I'm also bleached because I do my best to avoid the sun (exception was summer 2010 when I was out shooting photographs) - I've been doing that for ages too...
Oh, and the sun is too warm, you sweat too much too easily too... (I like it dry and cold, wet and cold, no)
