Because they eventually form to your body, much like a pair of shoes. That never happens with dress pants, since they are made to retain their original shape, and that's why they do not feel as comfortable, to me at least. Ultimately, it's your preference, and I believe you are entitled to whichever preference you have. But you should at least give something a try if you have never done so, or if you have not in a long time. You might find that you like something better than what you currently enjoy!
As a start for you to be more relaxed, all you need to do is be willing to change from your everyday routine, even if it's just once in a while. Set out to try and do something new and different, and find out if it works for you or not. But at least you will have tried.

I find dress pants/trousers very comfortable, absolutely nothing wrong with them with respect to comfort.
On that note though - you are right, one possibly should try "new stuff", but some people don't take well to change... I need someone who drags me into a change... and by myself I stick with my choices, solid as a rock in most cases .
