^^^ Sweet Looking Build! ^^^

How big are SSDs now? Is 8Gb of RAM enough to avoid needing a scratch disk and can SSDs handle the offload from Photoshop if needed?

Nevermind. 1TB SSD is over 2k. :)

So as long as you get a headstart of about 100 this time, maybe you can finish above him. :)

SSD's can go to a decent size it just the expense related to them. Shawn has a 256GB running in his macbook pro. I think he paid 300-400 for it. So you wouldnt want to go that high. Just high enough to put the OS and all the programs your running on there. RAM is so cheap i would put in 12GB if i built a tower. I have 8GB now in my macbook pro and wish i could tap 12. More than 12 is really not needed since 12 is already a lot!

Ouch... :( <Dislike>

I figure a 1TB can handle system and initial import of images with the 2nd HDD used to "mirror" the initial import so that the freshest images are immediately protected.

External HDDs can handle the post edit backups with DVDs archiving the "best of the best."

I'd love a 4X2Tb Drobo though...

Geoff, this is really funny:

Steven 1673 + Omar 1577 + Julian 1317 = 4567!

And it's 45.61% of the entire thread. O_O
