No need for coding above 30mm on the M series even the M8. M9 you can punch the code in via the interface but it's just below 30mm you need coding which is why I chose the 24 ASPH Elmarit. Summicron's are much better for the non ASPH ones :)

well Shawn if your getting one lens i would go 35mm first, if your getting two,

i would go 24 and 50, or even 21 and 50 as 35 an 24 are close to each other :D

if that's the case I agree with Martin... 24mm and 50mm :D

a few steps forward or a few steps backward will get you 35mm :D

But your 50 won't be 50 on the M8, the 35mm will be more of your "50" since you'll be on a crop.

50 on 1.3 crop puts you in the 65mm no man's land Shawn , something to think about :confused:
