I know this question has been asked before and I've even asked it myself. But the books I've purchased over the years never quite nail down, start to finish, photo retouching. I know there's tons of stuff strewn about the Internet on how to do various things, but has anyone ever written a book specifically for this, front to back, with clear objectives on how to touch up portraits? I've learned over the years how to do A LOT on my own and by reading books and tutorials here and there, but I always feel like I'm missing out on something, some kind of technique that can do photo retouching, start to finish. Any advice?

Thanks!

This was just released recently, "Real Retouching: A Professional Step by Step Guide" by Carrie Beene, and is supposed to go thru an image start to finish. I just ordered a copy which should be here on 3/28 so I can't comment on it directly yet.

I keep waiting for Chris Tarantino to get his book together, but it seems he keeps running into problems with it. If and when it gets released it should be an excellent read.

Katrin Eismann's book:

Yep, have both those in the bookcase as well. Katrin Eismann's book is one of the best overall imo. Skin 2 has some good techniques as well. I'm kinda like the OP in wanting a book that would take you thru retouching a single image from start to finish. I'm hoping the Carrie Beene book delivers there as promised.
