Ok i just got an external flash from a member on here it is a sigma ef-500 dg super .
When i take the first picture it's ok then i got to wait a very long time for it to flash on the next picture then once it's ready it will flash for 2 pictures then on the third picture it flashes really really bright and blows up the picture with flash . is this normal ?

My setting are :
Flash Mode: ETTL
Camera settings: flash exp. comp 0 , E-TTL II EVALUATIVE
I'm in indoors with bulb lighting and my ISO : 800 , Shutter: 1/640 , aperture: f10

I did put used battery in the flasher from old remotes can that be a possibility ?

I would go with a slower shutter speed. Try 1/60, and then maybe 1/250. Also switch to Man.

It's better to have it and not need it, Than to need it, and not have it.;)

Try using fresh batteries.

are you using a 50D? the sigma flashes had issues with the 50D... i had to send my ring flash to get its firmware upgraded.. took a week, but free.

That should have been the first think you did in troubleshooting, instead of having a heart attack.
