I took this photo of my daughter walking on the beach in Cozumel this summer. The first photo was processed in lightroom 3 and I'm still new and learning how to use this program. The second photo was processed with just the windows photo gallery program on my laptop. Which photo looks better? I'm thinking the first one looks better. This was just taken with a point and shoot S5IS. Thanks for looking...

The first thing that jumped out at me was the horizon. When shooting a large body of water, make sure that the horizon is level. The viewers eye knows it is water and that water runs downhill.

Having her almost centered makes this look more 'family vacation snapshot'. look up the "rule of thirds"...

Thanks, I'll watch out for the horizon.. never noticed it was not quite straight before you pointed it out... It was more of a family snapshot you are correct on that. I will look up the rule of thirds though, have heard about it but not really read up what it exactly means.
