So my 70-200 MK II makes a funny noise when panning up down left or right while the IS is engaged. If I'm hand holding and looking around through the viewfinder I hear alternating high and low pitch spinning noises that match up and down movements... What is "normal" for this lens?

Thanks,
Andrew

It means the "IS" is working well.

that's the beauty of the USM technology. its this pitch sound that means the IS is working. the motor is vibrating at a very high speed to keep u focused. It definitely sounds better than the 50mm 1.8 Non-USM motors that have a grinding sound.

well if it is something wrong, should you make a preemptive strike and send it to canon, or wait 'til it breaks? :) I wonder if the preemptive strike would be cheaper.
