Do some research on shooting in raw. There are many benefits. In addition to some minor adjustments to exposure, you get to rethink some of the settings that your camera applies to your images after you are able to see the photo. For instance when you shoot .jpg your camera, according to your"picture style" settings applies a certain amount of sharpening and saturation. On a .jpg in post you can adjust those, but they've already been adjusted once so you have to undo what has been done, and there is a quality loss in that process. When you shoot raw the camera records all the data from the sensor and does not apply any of those picture style settings irrevocably. When you edit your photos on the computer, you can adjust those things infinitely without damaging the original file. if you like the settings the camera applies then its a one click solution to convert the raw file to .jpg.
