Since the wireless remote flash triggering with the Canon 7D is from visual light; can I trigger non-Canon studio flashes which have an optical trigger. I don't expect the camera to control the flash but it would be nice if it could simply trigger it. I presently use an infrared trigger to fire my studio flashes wirelessly.

BTW: I am asking this question rather than experimenting because I do not have my 7D in my hands yet. It is coming from Canon's Loyalty Program and I will have it in a day or two...

I haven't tried, but if you can set the flip-up flash on the 7D to non-ETTL (manual) then you can trigger strobes optically.
