Okay I have no idea how the flex/mini work, but I heard they cost the 580ex II to fry. Lets say I hook up the 580ex II to a hotshoe cable then connect it to the flex or mini would it still be at risk to break it? Thx in advance

I think PW did some research in that, and they are pointing at a design flaw on the 580EXII - there's a thread already on this subject that includes a pretty detailed pdf from PW

I entered "PW report" in the search box and this is the first thing that came back. The search box is in the top right corner.

I will attest they do fry the 580exIIs. I've lost one and it had to be sent to CPS.

Okay would putting the 580ex II on the mini mess it up? Or its just problems with flex

The mini is a transmitter only. Not sure why you would want to do that?

No problems for me so far. 2x 580EXII units mini, 3 different flex units and a 430EXII. Maybe I am lucky, but I have not seen the issue.

Haven't had an issue with mine either. I have been keeping a close eye on this topic for some time now just incase.

I have 5 FlexTT5 units (one is a Nikon version) and a couple of EX flashes, including one 580EX II, and I have yet to have any issues or problems with any of them, especially with them burning out.

I have two 580 EX II's and two TT5's and I have had no issues with either which are used with my flex.

Yes I have but if I'm not mistaken you don't get the HSS with it on the mini, I may have that backwards but I believe it would only let me shoot 1/250th ss last time I had it hooked up.
