=Jordan'sDigitalDreams;12121284]Yes I have but if I'm not mistaken you don't get the HSS with it on the mini, I may have that backwards but I believe it would only let me shoot 1/250th ss last time I had it hooked up.

I only need it for wedding set ups. For instance set up a lightstand in the corner with a 430ex Ii on a flex and a mini on camera with my 580ex II. I just wanted to make sure it won't fry my 580ex II

Lol, I just returned my brand new Q-flash because it wasn't going to be able to fire in HSS mode when I had it hooked up to one of my TT5 units. I bought a brand new 580EXII as a replacement and now I wonder if that was such a good idea. I haven't had any issues with burning out my flash heads while using the TT5 and TT1 units, along with the AC3 controller, but perhaps that's because I can only get my remote flashes to fire about 20% of the time anyway!

Well I've been using my 580 with the mini and flex with no problems other than a couple of miss-fires for about 5 months. Do you have insurance? If no I would recomend it, I think I have around $5500 worth of coverage through state farm and only pay around $55 a year with NO deductable. I'm not necessarly worried about mine frying and even if it does my insurance would cover it...

You might want to look into that.

Read the Pocketwizard report. Everything so far says that the issue isn't with the triggers but with the way you use the flash. It will be fine on the TT1 or the TT5.

(But of course it was published by the manufacturer of the triggers, so take that with a grain of salt).

I was one of the unlucky ones... I had 2 of my 580ex II fry with the TT5 attached to them. I had a brand new flash fry 10 frames into a shoot . I was not shooting in HSS, as the LPA report suggests HSS causes "ozone" build up is the problem, along with many other things... They say because the flash is weather sealed, the gases have no where to escape too.... *Coughhh* load of BS**** I had another one speedlite go out the next day after minimal use. Sent back both units to CSP for warranty. Both units were fixed and they work like a they were suppose to and have not had any issues for over a year. That's because I switch to RP's for ETTL stuff and use the PW plus II for all manual strobist work.

Thx for the info Willie. Did you ever have your 580 on your pocket wizard mini? If so how did it work?

I used to have two 580EX II, now just one. They never got fried on a FlexTT5 or MiniTT1. I used it on MiniTT1 sometimes because I would like to have ratio but I didn't get AC3 until recently.

Yes, it doesn't get HSS when sitting on a MiniTT1.

I'd use a 430exii because it will be more than enough to get that flare look. Also put a sock on the 430exii and you shouldn't get missed shots.

580exii/flex on shoe and another 580exii/flex on a monopod handheld by an assistant.

If your gonna use a PW flex setup dont be suprised if the canon speedlites RF screwing up and missing the shot..

recently did a test using an OC-E3 Ettl cord I got over 350Feet of reliable shots with my 430exii with NO sock!!
