I don't recall seeing much bowling pictures here. So, I thought I'd share some photos taken at my niece's birthday party last weekend.

Can you tell these girls were having fun? :D

Thanks for looking and C&C are more than welcome!

Did the girl bounce the ball off the rail in #2 or was that just an optical contusion on my part.

Wow, your alley is lit much better than ours. My son is on his HS team and it's a nightmare to shoot at his home lanes. Or for that matter, most alleys.

I have to go to a birthday party on Saturday and was wondering if you had any tips for shooting at a bowling alley? I will be shooting with my 60D and either my Sigma 30mm or Canon 85mm.

Take both lenses. Use the 30mm for group and individual shots (although I don't think it's really wide enought since you're shooting on 60D) and 85mm for actions. I mainly used 24LII and 85LII on 5DII on this day. I do recommend getting a last lane since you'd need to go out towards the pins.

They were just casual shots for my niece's birthday, but please feel free to check out below link.

Nice shots. The only thing I'd change is brighten the kids (faces mainly) in LR or PS. Use fill or shadow to lighten a little. Just personal preference. Otherwise - Nice!

Thanks for the reply. I also have a 17-50 that I wasn't planning on bringing because I thought that I would need more than the 2.8. I usually stick with my primes when the lighting becomes bad. Love the shots on the link. I looked at the exif data and noticed that only the later (p.5-6) "portrait" type shots were taken above 2.0 and all the action shots were below 2.0. What do you think about the 17-50 for portraits instead of the 30mm and the 85mm for the action shots?

On another note, were these all hand held?

Do you mean 17-55 f2.8? If yes, of course you should take it. It'd be great for group and individual shots. f2.8 should be wide enough. And yes, take the 85 for action shots. Just make sure you guys rent last couple of lanes where you can have access to the side of lanes. All my shots were handheld.
