You guys want to see before and afters, click on the link http://www.crwmedia.com/index.html (external link) then click on the bride image. Once again click on each image to open it, then run your mouse over the opened image (dont click just move your mouse over it), that will give you a before and after. Each image is the same thing. You can see all the before and afters.

Same thing if you click on the model in the black dress. All the subsequent images are the same thing.

To be honest: Not my taste (overly plastic), but not too bad either.
Exception is the removal of stray hair in some of the bridal portraits: Way too soft a brush was used. He did better in some other images.

Think of it like this. My mom makes bomb pad thai.. she can teach how to make it.. will it taste the same? Not always. I think they want to see the op's progress from before and after the class to see if it's really a drastic improvement. Of course the one's on the site look good (They're supposed to) but it by no means demonstrates real world students and the improvements they made from the class.

BTW I make bomb pad thai and I can prove it :)

Ninja Edit: I would also like to point out that telling us you learned how to do it using 8 basic PS tools is pretty obvious to most of us. I personally use the clone stamp, healing brush, dodge and burn and get fantastic results imho. The other tools I would use would fall into layers and curves/level adjustments but not much else. I'm glad the op had a good time and got their money's worth because I've taken far too many classes (non photography related) that I left feeling like It just wasn't worth it.

Ok... I still haven't had the chance to do a before / after but give me a little time, hopefully after the weekend since I'm going out of town. But when I get back, I'll run an image through the steps.

BTW, my disclaimer is I'm not a pro and I'm not very good with PS so take that into consideration.

If you have come back and still aren't good with it, especially doing the one thing that they taught you, then that doesn't really say much for the course.

Your opening post stated "We were taught how to get that amazing magazine cover result in a very simple and easy way to do it. We used about about half a dozen basic photoshop tools to achieve that final look and the results were absolutely amazing. The simplicity is what's genius about it" and also "If you want to learn a VERY effective and simple way to edit your portraits with photoshop and achieve magazine quality results in just a few hours, attend Christine's class when she's in your area, I guarantee you wont regret it".

If it is as simple, easy and effective as you claim, then you shouldn't need to use a disclaimer saying you aren't very good at it.

Not the point i was trying to make. All I'm trying to communicate is that I'm not a PS wiz. Yes the class did tech us how to achieve a result and it did that well IMO.

Ultimately, i thought the class was worth mentioning.

Ok here is a before and after.
The after is overdone a bit but like I mentioned i'm still learning.
I don't know why but photobucket is really killing the color of the image.

Probably because there's no color-space metadata and no embedded color profile, and the image isn't sRGB?

On the edit: Yep I agree it's overdone somewhat. Also: I'd lighten the shadow around her mouth / under the nose: Looks a bit like a mustache. ;)

Good point about the upper lip. I edited that.

When I saved in PS it tells me the sRGB data is saved as well, so I don't get what's going on.

Here is the image in Flickr

Here's what the exif (external link) says:

WARNING: Embedded color profile: “ProPhoto/ROMM”
Some popular web browsers ignore embedded color profiles, meaning users of those browsers will see the wrong colors for this image.

Convert to sRGB for web images.

It is in sRGB as per photoshop. I'm thinking Firefox or the webpage is changing it.

What I just did is change it to CMYK and back to RGB. lets see if that does anything.

Here is the new saved image

It is in sRGB as per photoshop.

Where does PS say that? I assume you mean sRGB is the default working space in the color settings?
The first images were ProPhotoRGB, probably because you used LR or ACR as Raw converter. You need to specify the output color space there.

http://www.getcolormanaged.com …nagement/pscolorsettings/ (external link)

The image is sRGB now.

Interesting, all I did was in PS under mode I changed it to CMYK then back to RGB, nothing else. Thanks for the link.

I re-tweeked it a bit and mellowed it out some. Hope this is better.
