many thanks for doing that test Don

that first picture with the 500D is very good

nothing to do with the test but I love the picture on the note

'
500D and 58mm B+W Macro +10 Lens... '

the close up has awful distortion all around the 'edges' alright

'500D and 49mm Hoya +10 Macro Lens... '

much better , but again ...the 'edges' are fuzzy

not sure, but have you got the 250D Don?
if so try it with the 500D, both together, with the setting on the Pro1 to 500D
I did it tonight and it seemed terrific, showing close up of small print
the camera not having to be held as far away as with the 500D on it's own
but am not too sure, I could have got it wrong and that (what I said) is not possible

it is night time here and the shots were 1/8 handheld
I will try it again sometime, but in daylight.
can't really judge it real well now
(edges especially)
but liked what I think I saw

half afraid to even suggest the idea of these two working together

but
.............

:D:D

by the way, they are great shots of your macro lens
the 58mm and the 49mm
here I am showing the best results I think I can get of the different close ups
they may not be 100% dead on (focus) but.... to give an idea

close ups of the print on the back of the Pro1 camera user guide which most of us have

I am kinda confused so hopefully someone can help me.
Does the Canon 500 D mount directly on the Pro 1 or on the filter adapter or on the optional lens adapter LA-DC58C?

Thanks,
Sonya

the 500D filter screws onto a complete conversion lens adaptor Sonya

the conversion lens adapter LA-DC58C plus the other heavier section which is shown here in this photo copy below
the heavier part screws onto the Pro 1, the LA-DC58C screws onto that and the close up lens 500D screws onto the other end.

this complete adaptor is suitable for the tele converter for the Pro1 (if needed) also
there is a socket for a tripod connection on the heavier part of the adapter so as the weight of the lens attached to the Pro1 won't over balance if positioned on a tripod

I was so confused about this I had ordered both and checked the manual and could not find it checked again and found out that I had to take a ring off the camera first to put the adapter on.
I tried it out but have not looked at the pics yet.

Thanks Marie.

I did the very same
I forgot about the ring

I even forgot things now tonight before I posted the reply to you
(it's tonight here, actually it's early Tuesday morning) when trying to think about all this earlier
I was trying to remember everything (re adapter) and afraid I would say something way off beam and have you even more confused
I forgot the ring completely spaced me out too....... at the time when I purchased the adapter
glad you have already got past that
thanks
:)

They just had to make it confusing for us.

Whats weird is macro distance is a certain amount, super macro is another amount and now this ones another amount I may never figure this all out.
I think I need a class on how to use the pro 1. LOL.

I have done some good macros and super macros I cant wait to try this one out tomorrow if our weathers good.

Sonya

the main reason I got it ....(I had already got the 250 for the G2 and loved it..but dropped it last summer)....
was because of so much grain showing, using the super macro mode on the Pro1
but no real complaints about the super macro mode ....at all
I think its terrific

good luck
the 500D takes a bit of getting used to
you have to stand back further then you were used to with the 'normal ' macro closeness

so sometimes it is more of a hindrance then a help, especially on a breezy day,
but great in certain situations which have to be shot at a small distance
:eyes
you'll get accustomed to it and know when to...

(fling it out the window)

j/k:lol:

I need some cheat sheets on where everything is on this camera I get so frustrated reading the manual thats so vague about stuff.
Do any of yall have cheat sheets you would like to share?
Is there a thread about settings etc on here somewhere?

I think my old Canon 35 MM was much easier to learn to use.

Thanks Marie,
Sonya
