Superb and well done.No one has mentioned the other strikes to the left do you know roughly how long were these before or after the main strike.Or did they happen at the same time.

I really don't know as I did not see them until I got home. When this one struck I was in my truck with my dog and had the camera on the outside of the door so all I had to do was reach my arm out and hit the shutter when it clicked. I was on the phone with my wife and was not really looking. I thought this strike was right in front of me (within a few feet) as it so very bright when it hit...it was not until I got back home and downloaded it did I notice it was on the other side of the res, and then I saw the other strikes.

Thanks!

Just a little FYI which I thought was cool...It is totally flat behind the bolt...It looks like there is a hill (to me anyway), but that is clouds.

Thanks! It is right over by some apartments across the causeway, but it must not have hit them or I would have heard about it...I am guessing it hit the water. I can't really tell which side of the causeway it is on though. All that is over there are those apartments. And on the other side is a boat launch and little park.

A truly fantastic photo shouts being in the right place at the right time! Well done

I had to find a spot that had some activity in the clouds then I zoomed to 24mm on the 24-70 (you can use any lens), I of course had it on a tripod, then used one of the lights in the distance to lock focus.

Great focusing technique

Thank you and I hope it helps get some other cool lightning shoots on here! Everything I learned about doing this was from this forum...
