The 30D just came, oh my god how different to the 10D! Not much in weight but it is smaller. Nice big screen, higher pop up flash position, ooh its nice! Thing is its obviously second hand as the 30D is obsolete but it looks and feels brand new-the seller obviously looked after it!
Came with 3 batteries, 3 memory cards, EOS strap, unused, charger and cable, unused, all the original paper work and CD ROMs. I'm just over the moon!

My congrats to you, too!
I still love my 30D, and it acts as my (very reliable!) 2nd camera at photo shoots....and does a great job.
Only thing I'll recommend is that you consider your next purchases to be top-quality glass, as the 30D will shine even more.
Regards,
Simon

AND....I just looked at your blog and deviant art posts, so maybe you'll be extra pleased that the 30D can produce shots like this?
Enjoy!!!!

The 30D is not obsolete it is a great camera!

However, I cannot resist making a jab at others that get up in arms over the size of the 60D...

The 30D is smaller than the 10D, it must be considered a super-rebel and a down-grade! ;)

(again, couldn't resist, as well we know, the 10D shrunk a little when moving to the 20D/30D, then the 40D/50D got bigger, and now the 60D is back to the size of the 20D/30D)

Ditto on the rebel line, the rebel 300D was quite beefy, then the succeeding bodies were shrunken a bit.

Makes you wonder why they shrink or increase the size of bodies in the first place. Do the folks at Canon think that non professionals have smaller hands?

Here is a nice reference chart I have just created showing the deltas of weights, heights, and widths of the xxD line, and added the T2i and 7D. This is probably better for the 60D thread, but in any case, it is still fun to see the differences. :)

Something doesn't look right on the 7D, I will have to see if that is with battery or without, I bet I will have to change this chart a bit. EDIT: fixed, 945g is with battery, 820g seems to be without.

Bah, between answering all the corporate emails and fire-fighting with this latest software build/release issue, this was like a mini-work-vacation. :)

Here, I just added 2 more cameras to the mix for fun, took 3 minutes!

I actually like the and prefer the smaller size of 30D, so I also like the smaller size of 60D. I have relatively large hand, and I don't gind 30D/60D size too small at all. In fact, I don't understand half (at least) of the people why they would use grip on their body.

Congrats on the new (to you) camera. I have had my 30D for almost 4 years now and just can not see the need to upgrade for what I shoot. I have added two new L lenses and just recently a 85mm 1.8 and I continue to see an image quality improvement with each new lens. Maybe a 5DMkII at the end of the year but I said the same thing last year!

John
