Go Flyers.

I would buy a used Canon 70-200 MKI before the f4 if you are shooting sports. You could also look into the Sigma line as well. F4, even in a well lit NHL arena will have you shooting high ISO.

Nice shots for sure... and definitely would be better if it were the Flyers... just saying. Seriously though, some nice work there.

Nice work, and congrats...

Word of advice, always pay attention to the horizons when shooting hockey, if they aren't straight, the players will always look like they are skating up or downhill...

As stated in the OP until I can obtain my press pass (working on getting it secured for next season) I can not use a longer lens than my current Tamron 70-300. But the plan is once I get the pass to upgrade to the 70-200 f/4

Thank you for the compliments. Hopefully I'll be seeing the flyers in Raleigh for Round 1 ;-)a

First of all thank you. And yes especially in the last picture i really noticed it but I liked the facial expression and puck that I captured in that one.

Good game this weekend, unfortunately I was in Atlanta so I didn't get a chance to shoot it.

Good luck for your press pass, they are really hard to get and if you're lucky enough to get one you will get last pick on a hole if you get one... Gotta work your way up!

Also it's weird hurricanes allow cameras with detachable lenses at their games. Here in Ottawa you're not allowed to enter the arena with a camera that has a detachable lens.

Here the detachable lenses are not allowed either but as long as you only have one lense with you, why would you detach it? =P Thats what I tell them anyways and it works, so maybe its just our lack of intelligence coming out haha

For now I am only looking to get a press pass to have the ability to move around the arena in press areas and not too worried about getting a hole just yet, hopefully I'll get up the chain eventually.

Even Wings fans?

Actually, I get to shoot Mr. Karamanos' other team, the Plymouth Whalers. Here's a kinda boring shot of Austin Levi. He's a third year defenceman who was drafted by Carolina in last summers NHL Entry Draft.

Even FLAMES fans??? Ugh. Am I the only chick around here who likes hockey, or what?

Stupid @#$#@$ Blackhawks (playoffs). grumble, grumble, grrrrr

You know I was just looking at some of the pics we have on our "Wall of Fame" down in the basement bar at our place... and with chopped off body parts, weird compositions and horizons I never noticed before... I thought to myself, "self, you know, if you had the access and the lighting, maybe you could do this too" but no way could I front that kind of cash for 400mm lens and triggers and all that. I'm so not there. I am happy with my little 70-200 2.8L and just do what I can. NHL won't be it. :-( I'm just happy to watch and check out other's work. And drink heroin beer. ha

PS to the OP: Nice work. I was just in the Flames merchandise store and those shots are every bit as good or better than what they are selling as 8x10 individual action shots.

After Wednesday I'm ok with Wings fans for now =P

Thats an awesome shot and pretty cool that you get to shoot his other team!

Even flames fans! Thanks for the compliment. And yes I often find myself SMH when I walk through our store and just hate that some of their pictures they are selling aren't as good as mine. Haha
