This is the sales history for the 7D offered by PMI:

In case you're not an eBay user or not logged in the description page:

PMI in the past has had the lowest prices on eBay from an authorized dealer. Are they profiteering from the disaster and short supply or is this going to be the going price for the 7D body?

That is a crazy price. I hope they don't stay this way for long.

something looks strange on that link.
Ever since the price history went from $1479 to $1679, the bidders had zero feedback, with one exception. This was rarely the case in the previous 2 months. I'd be skeptical.

Looking around I think they're looking to hook suckers on eBay. Right now you can buy the kit with the 28-135 for the same price at B&H and Adorama. The refurb body is also still available at the Canon store for $1359.

I'm not too surprised about that, most of the major online retailers are out of stock for the body only. I saw this when it was first released and also when the 5D2 hit the market, a lot of zero feedback buyers on eBay.

It sure looks like they are trying to take advantage of the shortages!

true.
Amazon price tracker also shows a recent increase:

The 7D body only seems to be out of stock everywhere reputable, so prices are climbing at the few places that have them.

Also, nobody that is shopping for a 7D level camera wants the 28-135, so those kits are still in stock everywhere. That lens is barely worth $225, so that's still a price increase at $1899

Probably, but then that isn't the "going rate". :)

You lost me. The OP is saying that a seller on ebay who used to be the cheapest is now rasing his prices excessively- potentially in response to the shortages.

I agree with the OP that this is crazy and stinks.
I also agree with you that I would buy elsewhere.

The thread title says "Is this the new going rate for the 7D?"

Apparently not, since reputable retailers are including a lens for that price.
