Just got mine a few weeks ago and didn't do too much. An absolute amateur, still learning the ropes;

I have been wanting to give photography a try for quite a few years, and my wife surprised me with a T3i this past Friday. The only other cameras that I have owned were on mobile phones.

Played around in the front yard and the s/w that came with the kit:

So far, I've just been playing with the camera and reading up as much as I can.

Great photos, everyone!! :-) A few landscapey image from me. All w/ OM 21mm lens. I am REALLY looking for the RRS L bracket being released for T3i. I am using my 7D bracket on it, and it keeps me from flipping out the screen. I could have def. used the screen for wildflower and low angle water photos on this trip!!

Got mine a couple weeks ago.

I wanted a 7D at first, but I decided on the T3i and put the extra funds for a 70-200 2.8L IS.

I'll guess I'll save for a faster camera later on.

Looking to buy a 10-22 and 85L soon.

Still deciding a good walk-around such as the 24-70 or 24-105.

I'm a newbie to this forum, though not to DSLR. I had a XSi for a while (the soon-to-be-ex seems to have decided to recind her birthday present to me...), so I have a T3i on the way with the standard "entry-level" lenses that I had with the XSi: the kit 18-55 and 55-250.

I'll be browsing this forum for a while before I make any further lens purchases, which will also give me time to get a feel again for how I use the camera and lenses. I seem to recall I used the 55-250 a fair bit, pulling out the 18-55 only for people-gathering occasions. So an 18-135, 18-200 or 28-200 might be roughly the range I want for everyday use, with a 10-22 for wide shots and and eventual xx-400 for the tighter telephoto work. (The 100-400L seems a little out of my price range right now, especially since photography is hobby number n where n is increasing rapidly, and all values of x from 1 through n are expensive hobbies.)

Anyway, this is a great forum, and I really appreciate the shots from mco_970 and everyone else.
