Here you go Jen. If you want to send any shots you get that you love, ill edit them for you, but email them to me if you can at poshpennyphotography@yahoo.com (external link) because even though I am working in layers, its still better to start off with a better quality photo. Straight out the camera if possible :)

But I edited it in color first, then turned it black and white, tweaked the RBG scale until I got the tones I wanted, and dodged and burned the rest until it suited me. I also took out the stuff behind her as it was distracting. I ran sharpen edges on a duplicate layer at 40%, which made everything pop nicely. I smoothed out her skin, and corrected the bright spots of face. Hope you like it.

Love this shot! Not only is the action great but the building has this look like it's just trying so hard to be in focus as well, almost straining (if that makes any sense). Wonderful work!

I agree with everyone's comments!! This shot is great! I love how the leaves are in focus!! The colors are great. Perfect!

Jen, I use a combo of 3 things, but CS4 is my go to software, I am so use to it, I dont know if I could use anything else now. I recently bought Elements 10 on amazon for 60 bucks, and you can download directly from them!! I suggest that for a good starter program(it also reads RAW format), and I have some actions I can send you that will kind of let you cheat until you learn how to do it yourself. I have 4 shoots this week, so I am super excited!! I have been sick forever!! I am up bright and early, checking my camera bag, making sure my batteries are charged and all my stuff is running well. Going to be shooting mainly with my nifty 50 today, and my nifty 250, I love that lens...my 18-135 is kind of slow.

Does that make sense to anyone??? When I shoot with my 18-135 it seems like it doesnt shoot as fast as my other lenses, could it be the lens, or maybe I am shooting in the raw? The camera tells me to standby while it write the pic to the SDHD card. I have a class 10 32g scandisk, and I reformat before every shoot to avoid data corruption. So is it my card???? bah!!

Jen, I found Lightroom to be very easy and intuitive to use. I just picked up Scott Kelby's book on LIghtroom 4 and it has helped a lot.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

I LOVE this picture... It feels so... alive, if that makes sense. Like you truly captured a perfect moment in time.

This is a fantastic shot. Apart from the perfection in focus and color, the spontaneity and playfulness it conveys is great!

Oh speaking of camera bags- have you seen the ones from Kelly Moore?? I got one for my birthday. It's so nice & holds a ton of stuff & it looks like a pocketbook!!! Little expensive, but if you get it as a gift (even to yourself)haha it's not to bad!! Here's the link-

Jen, Lightroom is as easy as falling off a log... except it doesn't hurt as much..

Seriously, Lightroom is a *really* powerful piece of software. I am only beginning to scratch the surface and learning it - but the great thing about it is that the workflow is very intuitive and straightforward. Get Scott Kelby's book (or borrow it from the library), or better yet, watch the myriad Youtube videos on Lightroom workflow. All adjustments are made using sliders that are straightforward to use. Even though I own an old copy of Photoshop Elements, I don't really have any experience with it, but I couldn't be happier with Lightroom.

Are you shooting many consecutive images or after the very first it slows down? I shoot raw plus JPEG and only have an issue if taking fast consecutive shots.

Try shooting RAW, not in the raw...

J/K... I would imagine speed has more to with the camera and card, not the lens.
