Male Mallard duck. I almost didn't take this shot thinking they are such a common duck. Once I saw the colours that were captured, I was so glad I did. (A little help in PP)

So far I only have the on-camera flash and hardly ever use it. This shot was done with available light. I was in a wooded area at the shore of a pond and the duck didn't see me so it came in very close to shore. Tripod and 400 mm lens.

I have been considering buying a tc but don't know if I can afford the loss of IQ, AF and the $.

Just playing around with my new Camera, getting used to the Controls and features. I haven't anything like this in a coon's age. Photobucket is not doing the Image any Justice.

50mm f/1.8 Lens, f/5.6 1/320 ISO100 ...............

nice composition from what i can see. what mode was it in?
in no way am i a pro or assume to be.... but i have learned the concepts (i always shoot in manual), try it in manual mode, with a slower shutter speed, and keep the aperature as open as possible. I dont think the camera knows that you where trying to take a night shot.

I had it in Av mode. I wanted the Sillouette effect plus there was an ugly Elctro-Tug next to the Fuselage. I cut the Brightness and amped up the Color Saturation just a little bit to reflect the Colors what my eyeball saw. Here's the original Image...............
