Well, the 15-85 won't work on the 5D3. The 100-400 will, of course.

OK, EF-S lenses aren't compatible, I get it now.

Well maybe your camera is better than mine but without noise reduction in LR4...my pics look really noisy.

I had no preconceived notion of noise in a photograph one way or the other. This camera was given as a gift, so I had NO notion of noise either way. I just know what I see in my unprocessed images.

My pics are definitely noisy even at low ISO values when looked at 100% crop. It could be user error though. But for practical purpose, I just check them with laptop window size.

Good thing is, quality lenses like the 15-85 and 17-55 hold their value pretty well, so I think you should be able to move them pretty easily without too much monetary loss when you are ready to go FF.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

My pics are noisy with the kit lenses. I find myself using them less and less. I'll also be downloading Lightroom 4 pretty soon and see what I can do through that

not sure how much influence lenses have on noise... more related to you iso value.

Maybe I'm crazy or just weird but with the newer lenses I'm not having to go all out nuts on my ISO settings

because they have larger apertures, so you can have shorter shutter times and lower iso

I'm not really worried about it, I would probably keep my T3i as a second body anyhow, and I'd just keep the 15-85 on it and worry about the macro & zoom with the 5D. The only other lens I want to get is the MPE-65, which I plan on getting this summer, so a new body is definitely in my sights for next February.

I passed my T3i to my wife and she is learning. I am proud of her. Here is a shot of an American Goldfinch!

how do you like the 40mm 2.8?

I love it actually. It's probably my favorite walk around lens.

Awesome, Bluesy! Is she gonna be "BluesyDudette" on the forums?

Well, I tried for a half an hour to get a moon shot with the 100-400 plus the 2x...three minutes for this shot without. I had to shoot handheld because the 100-400 tips back on my tripod, lol (I need a Manfrotto) and it just wasn't happening at 800mm.

Nice shots everyone!

Only one from today not the best but it was getting late and light was fading. Suppose to have sunny weather for the first time in about a week tomorrow can't wait.

Ace, that's not a bad Moon shot. Looking at it tells me there's some haze in the air
george, nice capture on the squirrels. They look great
