got the go ahead to get a 6D with 24-105mm. Will be ordering next week. Excited.

That will be quite an up grade. Congrats! Time to sell those EF-S lenses. :)

IKK324, go to live view by pressing the camera icon next to the viewfinder. This locks up the mirror. Use the + button on the rear upper right to get to 5x and then 10x. Use manual focus to focus precisely on what you want.

wow....I had no clue lol. I am at work so will check that out when I get home. Thanks!

Ron.......I haven't even used the live view yet. I always seem to have a hard time with it trying to focus. How do you go to 10x magnification????? DO you mean in PP?

GreanJeans explained how to use Live View mode. It lets you really get in close to fine tune the focus. The problem with auto focus is it picks up on some seriously weird spots some times. So in the case like you had with three levels (background, bush, twigs) the auto focus(AF) chose what it though you wanted.

As mentioned by someone, you can increase your depth of field by decreasing your F stop (higher number, still makes no sense to me). Then you can either increase your ISO or take a longer exposure to still get a good image.

As for what PP is. I think it stands for Post Production? Stuff you do to edit your image once you get it onto your computer. I am a Gimp user and have been using it for years to edit my images from my cell phone and my Point and Shoot camera. So I feel pretty comfortable working in it to get my images on target. I am still trying to find a good way to deal with Chromatic Aberration (CA) in Gimp, but I am sure I will find something to deal with it eventually.

Thanks Ron The F stop and numbers seems backwards to me. I have to think about it every time! As for the PP question it was because I wasn't sure about magnifying the image 5x...10x...I didn't know you could do that on the camera so I was thinking maybe you meant in post processing.....Handy too to know nowl!! I am still trying my hand at the pp part. I have the trial of elements downloaded and been messing with that.

Nchant That is a great pic!!

Been down to the Wairarapa for a couple of nights for my mothers 84th birthday (she's in a Rest Home). Stayed with friends who have an amazing garden - so about a hundred or so shots later, here's some cosmos that I liked :-)

Really enjoying this Tamron 17 - 50 f/2.8 - wouldn't have got most of these without tripod with the kit lens.
