Are you a Linux user?

Yes, almost exclusively. I am a retired Linux programmer, and system administrator. I've been involved with Linux since Slackware v1.x, and started getting involved with it in 1994. These days I use OpenSuse, but I managed a bank of computers using RedHat Enterprise, for many years.

You?

Little johny....that pic made me laugh for some reason. Its like he is strutting!!!

It reminds me of the road runner in the bugs bunny cartoon.

I still have a Linux laptop - Pclinuxos, but have come back to Windows on my desktop after being given PS CS2 about eighteen months ago. Prior to that I dual booted Pclinuxos and WinXP, but Pclos was my day to day computing. I kept a Windows machine because my excellent quality scanner wasn't Linux compatible. Now it isn't Win 8 compatible so I've kept my WinXP box still.

I started with Mandriva 10 or 10.1 and went to Pclos when that went all corporate. Tried many distros on the way, and still fiddle from time to time, but now photography takes up my spare time! When I go away for weekends etc I take the laptop, and use it, but lately have had problems with digikam for some reason. I need to update the system probably. Was thinking about Vectorlinux, as I've played with that in the past and it's always been fast.

Oh...yeah. Good job by you on that one. I see you're getting the hang of the drop shots with your macro. :)

I have one in bound...hopefully next week. Give me some pointers. :)

Thanks PT :D
Before I was taking all my shots on single shot. I don't do that anymore lol. I had my camera on a tripod with a trigger attached. Manual mode, 1/250, f5.6 ISO 100
Glass baking dish half filled with blue dyed water and red dyed water in a glass for my eye dropper. I had a desk lamp with 100 watts behind the baking dish about 6 inches away shining directly on it. Focus point to the left or right of the direct light. I also used on camera flash and started firing away. Hardest part is getting the drops to hit right where you have the focal point set. It's fun to do

Thanks! I'm looking forward to the macro world. Your colorful water drop would look cool framed and hung on a wall. 8-)

Last day of freedom - back to work tomorrow, so no more leisurely bike rides on the cycleways . .... SIGH. A bit repetitive possibly of a few days ago but different time of the day, and IMO better. Sat on a seat, contemplated this view and ate a juicy juicy peach!

Yep - I know the light is flat, but I wanted to show that - this is summer light in NZ in the middle of the day :-)
