I didn't use a tripod for this trip, so I didn't play with multiple shots at the different shutter speeds. in this particular case, I played with settings in lightroom until I found things that i liked. I did do some contrast adjustments to that first picture. You're right - this is better: ![]() IMG_3305 That penitentiary was an interesting tour. We did it last year in October right before Hurricane Sandy came ashore. My wife is a little sensitive to ghosts and spooky things, so it was tough with her not being willing to go into a lot of the buildings because of it. I did get a few OK shots on my camera phone (the visit was before I got my T3i). Name is Ron.

So last night the "sports" setting got a try, and it's my first time using ISO 3200. Of course I knew it would be extremely poor, way too noisy, no quality at all with this cheap camera. I'm pleasantly surprised. More learning is in order. I heard they don't allow cameras with detachable lenses in professional sporting events. No Ace, no issues at all. I had a backpack with my camera and 2 lenses, a jacket (rain was forecast), and walked right in. However, it was a Triple-A game, light crowd, and I have enough gray hair I sometimes don't get questions. The Bills and NFL? Wouldn't get in with the camera, and probably not with the NHL. Things are getting pretty restrictive. You know I am not in love with the lens (there was a magenta edge to several shots), but sarcasm aside, the camera and lens did well at 3200. I won't be afraid to go there when necessary. I had thought 400 was tops. I will begin research as to what Canon models give the best results at high ISO, and maybe try to get a 300 f4. But the T3i has a home in one capacity or another. It's a good little camera.
