The first ones of the season showed up today in the middle of a small snow storm. They didn't seem to be in a very good mood so they must have forgot to pack their longjohns.

C&C always welcome!

Excellent image quality in all of these Mike. And yes, I think the Goldies left a wee bit early. Mine are almost in full breeding colors....such a treat to see some colors in these guys/gals now.

It just doesn't seem right: those pretty, yellow spring coloured birds in the snow. No wonder they looked miffed. :) But these are excellent shots, Mike. Enjoyed them very much.

EASILY 3-4" here today, Mike. And I'm pretty sure my nesting pair stayed here all winter. The male is just now starting to show signs of spring/summer yellow. More black on his head than anything else at this point, buy they're both still here and patiently wait their turn at the feeders.

New strategy this spring: I haven't filled the feeders for two weeks to hopefully rid myself of the swarms of Starlings and RWBB that took over last spring. Plus, the bastages, (Starlings) nested in every orifice of my home they could find last year. Hate 'em. They're like rats with wings!

Nice shots as always, BTW. Like the story as well. Caption idea for the shot of the female: "We ARE lost, AREN'T we?!!!"

Very nice pix. My goldfinches usually stay year-round here in Westcentral Ohio. They eat the Purple coneflower seeds in my wildflower plantings, and hit the nyger feeders too since I keep those stocked year round.

Thanks Duane!

Thanks a lot Levina.

Thanks Munroe, it is hard to beat those cute little juncos!

Thanks Dave. I have never had a goldie stay through the winter or at least they have never showed up at myfeeders if they did. Plenty of house finches though.

Stan, thanks a bunch.

Thanks Lil, it was kind of on the gloomy side.

Flo, you're too kind.

Thanks beekeeper!

Thanks db!
