I was looking at the local craigslist and found someone selling their 1DM4 for $5400.

In his ad, he said there are very few 1DM4s in the US right now, thus the mark up from the original retail price of $4999.

I went to both Amazon and BH and sure enough, BH lists them as temporarily unavailable and Amazon has 1-2 3rd party sellers selling at $5999!

Anyone know what the deal is? I was this close to putting mine up for sale, but I doubt anyone would bite at the higher used price to match the current retail prices...

Good question!! When I bought my pre-owned, it was the first one I seen on either FM or POTN for quite some time. I'm sure glad I didn't pass it up!! I don't think I would sell mine for anything right now...I'm having way too much fun with it!!

With the situation in Japan, 1d4's are backordered along with several other models. The 7D is unavailable at Adorama too.

Yeah...I believe that the happenings in Japan may have some effect on the market of 1D IV's, but they were scarce prior to the devastation. As I stated, when I bought mine pre-owned, it was the first one I seen on either FM or POTN in quite some time.
