I guess I have been wrong then ;-( Even if you bought a kit from B&H/Adorama and trying to list the lens before you got it in a day or two?

I don't consider the two scenarios to be equal. In your case, B&H and Adorama are reputable sellers. It's a pretty safe bet that the item your selling is brand new and in fine condition and will arrive when expected.

When you're buying a used item from an individual to flip, you have no real way of knowing its condition before you list it for sale. If asked questions, you cannot honestly answer them. The original seller said it was great, but do you know that for certain? No.

I wasn't thinking of that case; more about something between private individuals. I see no issue if you are selling a new lens that is on order from a legit retailer. It'd be nice to let potential buyers know what's happening, and I've certainly seen posts like that.

The difference with a private sale is that the flipper really has no idea what he has until it is in his possession. If you are re-selling something new from B&H it is pretty straightforward.

Reading comprehension problem. Just reread the post you are answering too and rethink if you got it right.

TooManyShots originally stated that if you use paypal and ship to the confirmed address (also need delivery confirmation/signature), you should be covered by Paypal protection. Not sure what exactly is wrong with that statement. ???

Not sure how reading comprehension discussions can come into play with a response like that to his reply. Don't supply responses like this, then come back on people when they have to decipher your meaning...

It sounds like he is trying to make money off of a lens "rental." That is something else. More power to him if he can pull it off, but still should not offer it for sale until it is in his posession.

Taking photos with a fancy camera does not make me a photographer.

Unless he had really put alot of thought into this, he did not already own a copy of this lens. Too many questions asked that he would have known the answre to. His response to my PM was "nothing wrong with trying to make a quick buck. My intent was to buy it, use it for the weeknd and ship it to the person who bought it from me."

Again, no problem with him buying and trying to sell it for a higher price. Problem is he is selling something he does not own nor has made a firm offer ot purchase. What happens if you buy it from him, he buys it from me and UPS damages it in transit?

oh ok. that gives more context. strange though. i still think it's pretty shady what he's doing. just do what another poster suggested and do it first come first served.
