Thanks guys. This has turned into an interesting thread. Backgrounds are tough at the games at this level. People are everywhere.
I try to frame the best background I can when lining up a shot, but sometimes you have to go with what is there.
The 400mm is a prime. It cost me $200 bucks and I wanted to see what it could do.
What I learned, it needs A LOT of light. More than I thought it would. I was really worried about the bright sun when I shot these, but it made all the difference in the world.
When I shoot, I am going for faces, actions and good framing. The bokeh is the bokeh. Like I said, I anted what this lens could do and I could not turn it down for the price. 5.6 is 5.6 and I wanted to shoot there to see what the lens could do at that setting.
I am pleased with these, I think the lens did really well for me. And I'll try it again this weekend.
The Sigma is a top notch lens IMO. It produces time after time for me and I would not get rid of it or change it in any way. Every shoot is a learning experience for me anyways.
Keep the feedback coming. Good or bad.
Scott
