Howdy folks...

as an amateur, i take my camera to take pics of my kid's b'day parties and some other activities...

now over a year, i've gathered a bunch of photos of my kids as well as many of their friend's b'day and school event pics...

instead of burning a dvd for each parent for each event, i was thinking of creating a online "private" site where i can provide them the log in and password and they can go and download good resolution pics...

what is a good site that you guys can recommend... now, nothing paid... as this will be freebies...

thanks.

oh, and one more thing... the images must be accessible only by friend and families of my kid's classmates... not to public...

Your asking a lot for free. PBase (which I use) is only $23 a year. Simple layout, kinda old style but it works. You can set it up for Private viewing where a password can be given out.

Have you tried googles Picasa web album?

Your get the first Gb of space free, you can set it to 100% private with only Email link in access or 95% private with random hyperlink address (E.G. https://picasaweb.google.com/....then (external link) alot of numbers & letters) or An open access.

All you need is a googlemail or Gmail account (if ou aint got one it take 10 min to get one)

Have a look for yourself

+1 on Picasa....

As an added bonus, for $5.00 a year, you can upgrade to 20gb of online storage.

Flickr doesn't have this option? I thought it had privacy settings as well. Can someone please verify this?

Flickr allows permissions based handling, you can allow yourself, only your friends, only your family, or anyone to view the photos...

Problem is, I believe you have to have people set up in your 'friends & family' contacts list for them to be able to see. That is not as easy as just giving out a password and anyone dropping by to view.

Can anyone elaborate on this? I have not really ever used the feature, all mine are public.
