Not sure if my eyes are playing tricks on me, but my recently acquired MagicDrainPipe and the Tiffen UV Filter on it seem to be in contact with eachother at the center of the front element. Anybody experience this?

They don't quite touch the front element but they certainly are very close. I don't have a Tiffen UV filter in 72mm. The front element comes up extremely close to the filter threads.

midget Senior Member 511 posts Likes: 1 Joined Aug 2007 Location: NY More info | Jun 25, 2011 13:27 | #4 i've had the same issue with a tiffen UV before "kissing" the front of a ultra-wide a touch. my solution was to take some thread (like clothing thread) and wrap it into the threads of the UV filter. this gives the filter a bit more clearance to prevent the lens from "kissing" the filter. hope this helps. 40d + 50mm f1.8 MK I + my feet.
