My brother-in-law asked me so shoot an engagement session for him and his fiance. They dressed formally, which I did not expect, and I had a hard time getting them to loosen up and act natural. Here is a sample of the photos. They liked the desaturated and vignetted look, so that's what I aimed for. Please C&C them so I can learn.

2. I realize the ring isn't positioned right, but they liked it anyway.

I like these...very nice and natural looking. (I hate engagement and wedding photos that look more like models modeling then two people madly in love).

I love the closed eyes in shot 3, that dreamy look of love, So natural and pleasing.
Nice set.

You can't always make people loosen up- sometimes you just have to go with what they give you. Nicely done.

I think 4 & 5 could benefit from a tighter crop and 5 shows a nice connection between them.

Thanks for the kind feedback!

I can visualize the tighter crop on 5, but how would you suggest cropping 4?

Nice shots except for #4. 4 is very awkward in many ways. Shooting up the noses. Her legs are not in an attractive pose. This looks more like a grabshot. Feet are cropped at the ankles. Her head cuts into his chin. She doesn't look very happy. They look like they were waiting on you and you pushed the button.

I'm not a fan of the desat look but do like the vignettes, but again, that's all a personal preference. ;)

I would crop like this...

The feet being cut off at the ankle do not bother me that much in this image.
