exhibit #1: http://www.newegg.com/HelpInfo/ReturnPolicy.aspx#44 (external link)

Standard Return Policy

* Return for refund within: 30 days
* Return for replacement within: 30 days
* Restocking Fee: Yes

exhibit #2: http://www.newegg.com …o/FAQDetail.aspx?Module=6 (external link)

When and why are restocking fees applied? How much is deducted when a return is subject to a restocking fee?

There is a restocking fee of 15% on all returns for refund (RMA Refund), unless waived by a Customer Support Agent. We charge this 15% restocking fee for all returns for refund to encourage customers to purchase products they intend to keep. We offer RMA Replacement without any restocking fee to support customers who have received a defective product. For CPU and Memory refunds, any restocking fee we use will be a reflection on current market value for the same cpu item. Newegg.com does not support attempts to profit from CPU and Memory price fluctuations.

---------------

Now this the case for *refund*. If you want exchange then it's just like the others (in fact 5D2 is exchange only, no refund at Newegg).

Thanks for doing the research. I know where to make my next purchase. ( No not at B&H or Adorama) I am tired of getting obviously returned by somebody items. I wish all stores stopped this no question asked return madness, that was only beneficial for crooks and cherry pickers. I hope Adorama and B&H read this message.

A friendly call to a sales rep at Adorama has always gotten me free shipping.

hum, actually, there's no fee for *exchange* though, so you might be still getting someone else's returned exchange.

Crutchfield ships free, too, and has one of the best customers services in the nation. The return policy is excellent. For example, a few years ago I ordered a 50" Sony Bravia flat TV screen, which was shipped free of charge to Alaska where I live, but it seems that somewhere along the line dropped the box and damaged the TV. I called Crutchfield right away, and was asked to repack the TV and hand it to the UPS person that was supposed to arrive with a replacement. No questions asked about re-charging my credit card. They just shipped another one on 2nd-day Air :)

In december I purchased a Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark II from this company because of the free shipping to Alaska:

Crutchfield is a a great company, i ordered lots of audio equipment from them with no issue, they even have online chat so you dont forget anything u dont usually think of like proper cables and such...as a side note, in todays business world, there is no reason to ever pay for shipping because u can always find a retailer with free shipping

I finally decide to buy another camera (5D II), but have noticed no more free shipping from BH and Adorama.

We still offer free shipping on many items where margins allow.

For one reason and another, times are currently tough in terms of Canon (and Nikon)

However, if you join NAPP you can get FREE SHIPPING

I can't speak for any other retailers, but at Adorama, faulty items are returned to the manufacturer or distributor.

My blog post, above, may provide some clarification.

They're also not as reliable in their shipping time like Adorama and B&H. I've ordered things from them over the weekend and have them not ship until Wednesday and on more than one occasion.

To me, if I'm paying $1000 or more for a body I don't mind paying a relatively small shipping charge to know that 1) the item will ship promptly 2) I won't be getting a returned item and 3) the item is shipped and packed in a safe manner. I've been burned by Amazon on 2 and 3 so I don't buy photo equipment from them any longer.

beachcamera is Canon authorize dealer and from reviews i have read they are as good as Adoroma, If conditions are identical there is a high chance i would take Ado or B&H over anyone but u would think a Company who sells almost 10X more than any others would be able to offer better deals.

Did I say anything about them being an authorized dealer? Did you read my gripe about them? What good is free shipping if they don't ship until the third business day?

For as much as this gear costs now I'm really surprised at the constant complaining about free shipping.
