I get the frustration and if I knew of a reputable seller offering the same deal but with free shipping, I'd buy from them instead. Shipping counts in the total price of the item. I'll go with free shipping for items other than lenses but I will only buy new bodies and lenses from a small group of authorized dealers including Adorama and B&H.
